also launched on March 8, 2008.
Prajnya's first
Summer Interns were Swati Seshadri, C. Sindhu and Nirmala
Wasi. Their internship tenure was May 15-August 15, 2008.
Their assignments were historical research projects on
the participation of women in specific historical contexts.

The first of
a series of in-house round-table seminars was held on
July 21, 2008, with Professor Linda Racioppi speaking
about women in social movements at times of political
transition in Russia, Northern Ireland and Sri Lanka.
Her focus, in keeping with the objective of the series,
was on research challenges.
The first Prajnya 16 Days Campaign
against Gender Violence took place between November
25, 2008 and December 10, 2008 at venues across Chennai
in partnership with civil society organizations, corporates
and educational institutions.
Prajnya held its
second intercollegiate quiz on March 7, 2009 at the
Madras Terrace House. MOP Vaishnav students took the trophy
home but only after winning a tie-breaker question. Queen
Mary's College came second.
Uma
Vangal conducted a workshop on 'Film Literacy and Gender'
at IIT Madras on March 9, 2009. Prajnya was invited by
the IIT Madras Women's Forum to do a programme on the
occasion of International Women's Day.
The
Women's History Roundtable
Series was launched on March 14, 2009 with a presentation
by Srilata K. who teaches at IIT Madras.
